Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced Thursday, June 15, that Erie County Court Judge Sheila DiTullio sentenced Charles Jones of Buffalo to 50 years in prison for two counts of first-degree manslaughter. He pleaded guilty to the charges in April.
On Thursday, July 18, 2019, officials found Jones' ex-girlfriend, Jacquetta Lee, deceased in her apartment bathroom on Main Street after her family reported her missing. According to the District Attorney's Office, Jones stabbed his ex-girlfriend repeatedly, and she wasn't found until three days after her death.
Nearly a month later, on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, Buffalo Police arrested Jones on suspicion of killing Lee. Upon further investigation, officials searched his home on Jefferson Avenue and found the remains of his mother, Alethia Williams, inside of a closet. The District Attorney's Office said Jones stabbed Williams repeatedly as well, and she had been dead for approximately two weeks before the discovery.
