Ind. man sentenced to over 6 decades after fatally strangling ex with belt because he was jealous

MUNCIE, Ind. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old man was recently sentenced to over six decades in prison for the 2020 torture and killing of his ex-girlfriend.
According to the Muncie Star Press, in November 2020, 27-year-old Mary Grubb went to Christopher Allison’s home on the 2000 block of East 25th Street so that their 2-year-old daughter could visit him.
On Nov. 25, 2020, Grubb’s body was found wrapped in the bed of a pickup truck at the Water Bowl recreational facility on North Old State Road 3 with severe injuries to her throat, neck, and head, WXIN-TV reports. Prosecutors said Allison planned to burn and bury Grubb’s remains, the Muncie Star Press alleges.
According to court documents obtained by WXIN, Allison was jealous over Grubb’s new boyfriend, and he strangled Grubb with his belt in his home. As he was strangling her, Allison reportedly let Grubb regain consciousness two times so he could read text messages she sent to her boyfriend.
The killing allegedly happened "within hearing" distance of their 2-year-old daughter.
A witness was able to record a conversation with Allison, in which he discussed moving Grubb’s body, possible alibis, and the last time he saw Grubb, according to WXIN. In the recording, Allison also reportedly said that Grubb broke his necklace during the attack.
Allison was arrested and booked into the Delaware County Jail on Nov. 26, 2020, records show.
On Friday, Oct. 21, Allison was sentenced to 60 years in prison for murder and two years for neglect of a dependent, according to WXIN. As part of Allison’s guilty plea, prosecutors reportedly dropped strangulation, attempted murder, obstruction of justice, and intimidation charges.
