Houston woman accused of fatally stabbing teen mother while she was walking to work

HOUSTON (TCD) -- Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of fatally stabbing a teen mother while she was walking to work over the weekend.
According to a news release from the Houston Police Department, on Saturday, Dec. 9, citizens flagged down officers "regarding a disturbance in the street." Police found 17-year-old Kayla Stevenson unresponsive on the sidewalk with stab wounds, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police allege Stevenson was walking to work when the suspect, 37-year-old Kaysone Blossom, robbed and stabbed her multiple times. According to KTRK-TV, Blossom stole the victim's purse. The suspect allegedly had a Taser, handcuffs, duct tape, and another knife in her possession at the time of the attack.
Witnesses reportedly saw Blossom riding a blue "cruiser-style" bicycle.
Officers from the Houston Police Department SWAT team apprehended Blossom at her home on Beechnut Street on Wednesday, Dec. 13. She was booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of capital murder.
According to KTRK, at the time of the fatal stabbing, Blossom was out on bond for allegedly cutting her ex-boyfriend with a knife in 2021.
The victim was the mother of a 6-month-old child.
