PHOENIX (TCD) -- A man was hospitalized early Friday morning after getting stuck in a chimney while trying to enter the home someone who has a court order against him.
According to AZFamily.com, on Friday, July 28, at around 1 a.m., the Phoenix Police and Fire Departments went to a home near 39th Avenue and Camelback Road because Ervin Gonzalez attempted to enter the residence via the roof. The family who lives in the house reportedly said they know Gonzalez.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Kim Ragsdale told AZFamily.com firefighters were "able to monitor him, monitor the atmosphere around him at all times, they were able to have contact with him at all times, speak to the gentlemen and provide water for him."
A police spokesperson told the Arizona Republic that Guzman was technically not allowed to be in the residence due to the court order.
Technical Rescue Teams arrived at the home and helped retrieve Guzman from the chimney using a harness and rope.
KPNX-TV reports firefighters had to break a wall from the inside to extricate him.
Ragsdale said, "Chimney flues are relatively small and not capable of having a human go in and out of them."
Guzman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Once he is discharged, he will be transported to jail and booked on multiple counts.
