MOBILE, Ala. (TCD) -- A grand jury has returned an indictment against a 38-year-old woman who allegedly killed, decapitated, and dismembered her missing boyfriend, whose torso was found in a wooded area in 2015.
According to WKRG-TV, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office announced April Gibbs was arrested on suspicion of murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with Larry James Bradford’s death. She is currently being held in the Mobile County Jail.
WKRG reports the grand jury alleges Gibbs "did knowingly and willfully abuse the corpse of Larry James Bradford by, to-wit: dismembering parts of his body and/or disposing of his torso in the woods or and/or exposing his body to the elements and/or scattering his body parts."
Bradford’s family reported him missing Aug. 11, 2015, and an environmental officer found his headless, armless, and legless body in the woods a week later, according to AL.com. Gibbs’ indictment reportedly remained secret as part of a task force that speeds up arrests and lets their prosecution begin more quickly.
