On the day of the shooting, Gyamfi reportedly drove to the 1600 block of 29th Street Southeast shortly before 4 p.m. to speak with his cousin, Turner, "regarding an Instagram post Turner had made earlier in the week."
An argument between the two ensued, and Turner left, the Attorney’s Office said. Turner reportedly came back shortly after with a gun, and the dispute continued. Gyamfi and Turner both left the area "in separate directions."
According to the Attorney’s Office, Turner confronted his cousin near the intersection of 29th and S Street SE a final time. Gyamfi reportedly ran toward Turner’s vehicle, and Turner then shot Gyamfi three times, carried his body into the street, and fled the scene without calling for help.
Police arrested Turner on Dec. 29, 2021, on a charge of second-degree murder while armed. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 25.
