Mass. man arrested for allegedly throwing woman into a campfire

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (TCD) -- A 45-year-old man was arrested and faces several charges after he allegedly threw a woman into a campfire, causing her to sustain burns on her body.
According to a statement, on March 20 at 8:15 p.m., the Fairhaven Police Department received a call about a suspicious person near Long Road and found a woman with burns on her upper body. The woman reportedly told police she was "attacked by a person she knew, and was thrown into a campfire and held there."
The victim was ultimately able to escape and find help. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital for treatment.
Police identified Robert McWilliams as the suspect and located him in a wooded area where the alleged assault originally occurred. He was booked into custody on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness, and assault with intent to kill.
Fairhaven Police said they did not know the woman’s current condition.
