HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 19-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly kidnapping a 2-day-old baby and pretending she was the mother.
On Saturday, Dec. 31, Houston Police officers responded to the 5000 block of Paige Street to a report of a kidnapping, KPRC-TV reports. A woman reportedly told authorities she brought her 2-day-old daughter home from the hospital when her friend Kristie Julian kidnapped the newborn and fled the scene.
A few hours later, officers allegedly found the 2-day-old baby unharmed at Julian’s boyfriend’s home on the 8000 block of Pointe Park Drive.
According to KPRC, the boyfriend told authorities that Julian was the mother and that the baby was born a few days prior.
An EMS crew had reportedly responded to the home on Pointe Park Drive for a separate reason in November and said Julian was not pregnant at the time. However, according to KTRK-TV, Julian posted on social media that she was pregnant, and a baby registry was published under her and her boyfriend’s name, with a due date of Jan. 11, 2023.
In an affidavit obtained by KTRK, Julian was listed as a dog sitter who suffers from seizures and anxiety, and she did state that she is currently pregnant.
Julian was booked into the Harris County Jail for kidnapping, and her bond was set at $20,000, records show.
Julian was reportedly ordered not to contact the newborn or the mother if she posts bond.
