FRESNO, Calif. (TCD) -- A 22-year-old woman and her 26-year-old boyfriend were arrested in connection with the deaths of the female suspect’s 18-year-old sister and 3-week-old niece.
On the morning of Saturday, Sept. 24, Fresno Police officers responded to a home on the 2500 block of South Fruit Avenue to a report of shots fired, police announced. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the victims, Yanelly Solorio-Rivera and her infant daughter, Celine Solorio-Rivera.
According to police, they were both fatally shot in their bedroom.
On Wednesday, Nov. 9, the Fresno Police Department announced that they arrested Yanelly’s sister, Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, and Martin Arroyo-Morales in connection to the case.
Investigators believe the shooting was fueled by jealousy and sibling rivalry, KTLA-TV reports.
The suspects were interviewed, and they reportedly confessed to the fatal shooting. Authorities allegedly recovered the 9-millimeter Smith and Wesson handgun believed to be used in the crime.
Yarelly and Arroyo-Morales were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for homicide. Their bail was reportedly set at $2 million each.
