SCHERTZ, Texas (TCD) – After the remains of a missing 22-year-old man were found, the friend who last saw him is in custody.
On Sunday, March 7, 2021, Jacob Dubois was last seen after telling his girlfriend he was going to meet up with his friend Ethan Beckman, the Schertz Police Department said in a news release. When Dubois didn’t return home the next morning, his girlfriend reportedly called police.
According to police, authorities contacted Beckman, and he said they drove to a construction site near Dubois’ home near Homestead Parkway and Somervell. Beckman reportedly told authorities Dubois said he was going to walk home, but by Tuesday, March 9, 2021, he was still missing.
On March 10, Beckman "continued to give conflicting stories as to how long he and Jacob had driven around and where Ethan had dropped Jacob off," police said. Beckman’s vehicle was reportedly involved in a collision around the time of Dubois’ disappearance.
According to police, detectives seized Beckman’s vehicle on March 11, 2021, and discovered that it appeared as though someone tried to clean the inside and even soaked the floorboard. Authorities also reportedly found blood on and around the passenger seat of the car.
On March 12, 2021, police said an arrest warrant was issued for Beckman on charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. On March 29, 2021, he was reportedly booked into the Guadalupe County Jail.
Recently, police announced that Dubois’ remains were found on Sept. 14. Beckman reportedly remains in jail on $850,000 bond.
Police said the investigation into murder charges remains ongoing.
