MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old woman was recently arrested and charged after allegedly intentionally setting a duplex on fire last month.
According to the Memphis Fire Department, on July 26 at approximately 6:43 a.m., firefighters responded to a duplex on the 3500 block of Bowen Avenue to a report of a fire. Only the vacant side of the duplex was reportedly involved, and an investigation into the cause of the fire was launched.
Memphis police told WREG-TV, "Fire and heavy smoke [were] bellowing from the doors and windows." Investigators reportedly concluded that the fire had been intentionally set on the first and second floors of the duplex with "some type of open flame device."
Upon further investigation, Sara Onsby was identified as the suspect, according to WREG.
Onsby was arrested and booked into Shelby County Jail on Thursday, Aug. 4, records show. She was charged with aggravated arson and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Aug. 5.
