AKRON, Ohio (WJW) -- Akron police arrested a 25-year-old woman they say stabbed a 70-year-old woman in an unprovoked attack at a Save A Lot grocery store Thursday at about 7:30 a.m.
Police say when officers arrived, Gabrielle Bennett was throwing canned goods at storefront windows, causing the glass to shatter. Officers took her into custody. They then found the 70-year-old victim in the back of the store.
The 70-year-old woman, who was stabbed twice, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General with nonlife-threatening injuries. She told police she did not know Bennett, but that Bennett approached her inside the store and stabbed her, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Police said Gabrielle Bennett is facing charges of felonious assault and vandalism.
