MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) -- A 13-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man are charged in a shooting Friday afternoon in northeast Memphis that killed a 9-year-old boy.
Memphis police responded Friday around 5:30 p.m to the scene of a shooting on Gallan Drive, inside the Canterbury Woods Apartments. Police said 9-year-old Xavier Jackson was found shot to death at the scene.
Saturday morning, police said the 13-year-old shooter was charged with negligent homicide. Lindsey Williams, 26, was also charged with negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Police said the shooting took place inside an apartment unit, and their investigation revealed that the teen gained access to an unsecured firearm.
