KANAWHA COUNTY, W.V. -- (WBFF) -- Putnam County deputies arrested a woman wanted on a warrant in Kanawha County after she was accused of beating her 8-year-old son because she was upset the boy played with one of her shoes and she couldn't find it when she woke up.
Emmalee Yvonne Carroll, 35, of Cross Lanes was booked into jail Thursday. She is charged with child abuse resulting in injury stemming from an October 2015 incident, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
The complaint said a Kanawha County deputy spoke with a counselor at Cross Lanes Elementary who said a child was beaten by his mother at a neighbor's residence on Kensington Lane in Cross Lanes.
After meeting with the boy, a deputy took photos of his injuries, which included bruises and abrasions on his hip, buttocks, forearms, chest and neck. The boy also had some hair missing from his head and some blood in his hair.
The complaint said Carroll told a deputy she had an altercation with her son after she woke up and couldn't find her shoe and admitted to grabbing and shoving him and pulling his hair.
A neighbor said Carroll passed out at the neighbor's residence, and Carroll woke up in a rage, deputies said. The neighbor said she saw Carroll grab the boy's hair and pull him around the house before throwing him out the door with no shirt or shoes on into the cold air, the complaint said.
