PRINCETON, Mass. -- (WBZ) -- The body of a 27-year-old woman was found in a wooded area in Princeton Sunday night after she went out for a jog earlier in the day.
Police were searching for the woman, Vanessa Marcotte, after her family reported her missing Sunday afternoon.
Marcotte, originally from Leominster, was living in New York City working as an account manager at Google. She graduated from Boston University in 2011.
She was visiting her mother in Princeton at the time of her death.
Investigators say Marcotte's body was found Sunday night by a K9 police dog in a wooded area about a half-mile from her mother's home. She was last seen on Brooks Station Road during the afternoon hours.
Authorities say an initial investigation suggests Marcotte was murdered. Investigators say the homicide occurred some time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Anyone with information is urged to call Massachusetts State Police.
