N.Y. parents indicted for murder after disabled son found dead with signs of malnourishment

OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (TCD) -- The parents of a 17-year-old boy with cerebral palsy were indicted for murder in connection with his death last year.
Deputies responded to a home on May 9, 2021, where they discovered the unresponsive 17-year-old victim. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after. Authorities said the victim was "severely underweight with bedsores covering a significant portion of his body."
According to syracuse.com, the 17-year-old victim weighed 55 pounds when he died of sepsis and malnutrition. The bedsores were reportedly so severe that his bones were exposed.
An investigation was launched after the boy's death, and authorities interviewed the child's teacher, doctors, parents, and physical and occupational therapists. In February, the teen's death was ruled a homicide.
On March 16, the child’s mother, Lisa Waldron, and stepfather, Anthony Waldron, were reportedly arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter, first-degree criminally negligent homicide, and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person. The parents reportedly made bail in March.
On Friday, June 24, the couple was indicted by a grand jury, Syracuse.com reports.
