78-year-old woman accused of robbing Missouri bank

PLEASANT HILL, Mo. (TCD) -- A 78-year-old convicted bank robber was arrested this week for allegedly robbing a bank and stealing.
According to Pleasant Hill Police, on April 5 at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers responded to Goppert Bank at 2100 N. Highway 7 for a robbery in progress. Officers received descriptions about the suspect and and their vehicle, and police located the car traveling south on Highway 7. Police conducted a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody.
Officers obtained a search warrant for her car and reportedly located evidence "linking the woman to the bank robbery."
On Thursday, April 6, the Pleasant Hill Police Department said Bonnie Gooch was charged by the Cass County Prosecutor's Office with stealing or attempted stealing from a financial institution in connection with the robbery at Goppert Bank.
She was booked into the Cass County Jail and is being held on $25,000 bond.
This isn't Gooch's first brush with the law in terms of bank robberies. According to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, on Jan. 23, 2020, Lee's Summit Police were called to a home where a man told officers his mother, Gooch, was "off her rocker" and that she told him she planned on robbing a bank.
The same day, police received a call from Bank of the West, and witnesses told officers a woman passed a note to the teller demanding $3,000. The teller gave her the money, which officers later found in her car, along with the note.
Court records show Gooch pleaded guilty in 2021 to stealing and received a suspended sentence.
