Owner of Georgia disabled children’s home accused of child cruelty and abuse

WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. (TCD) -- A 62-year-old man was arrested this week for the alleged abuse of disabled adults and children within a nonprofit organization he owns and operates.
According to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, on Friday, Jan. 21, an investigation into allegations of child abuse and disabled adult abuse at King’s Cleft was launched. The nonprofit organization reportedly provides a home for disabled and handicapped children. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says many juveniles lived at King’s Cleft through adulthood.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, five children and five adults were found at King’s Cleft, and the children were removed. The children are reportedly in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services, while Adult Protective Services is working to remove the disabled adults from the organization.
On Wednesday, March 2, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested the owner of King’s Cleft, David Fahey. He was reportedly charged with four counts of felony cruelty to children and three counts of felony false imprisonment. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, David Fahey’s wife, Kathy Fahey, was also a subject of the investigation, but she passed away during the process.
The arrest reportedly comes after a two-month-long investigation led by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
