Louisiana woman wanted for allegedly biting 'large portion' of officer’s ear off

HOUMA, La. (TCD) -- Police are actively searching for a 36-year-old woman who allegedly bit off a large portion of an officer’s ear last week.
According to the Houma Police Department, on Nov. 12, officers responded to a "disturbance" at Joni B’s Bar, located at 319 Howard Ave., shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, police say multiple women were fighting in the parking lot, and they tried to break it up.
As officers worked to end the brawl, the Houma Police Department said the suspect, Michelle Smith, started to bite the ear of one of the officers. She reportedly bit a "large portion completely off" and fled the scene. The officer was transported to the hospital for treatment following the incident and is currently recovering.
According to the Houma Police Department, an arrest warrant for Smith has been obtained for one count of second-degree battery.
