Children's home supervisor shot dead after firing employee: Prosecutors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (TCD) --
A Missouri man is charged with murder after allegedly shooting his boss at a children's therapeutic treatment home who had just fired him, police said Wednesday.
Florissant Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Marygrove Children's Home on Mullanphy Rd. on Tuesday at about 12:09 p.m., according to the department.
Officers found a man in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 60-year-old Brantley Tate, was hospitalized, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Christopher Owens was immediately suspected in the shooting, and he was located and arrested. Owens reportedly confessed to shooting Tate.
Police said Tate and Owens worked together at the Marygrove Children's Home, and Tate was Owens' immediate supervisor. According to the investigation, Tate had terminated Owens' employment just before he was shot.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Christopher Owens with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, and Owens was held without bond at the St. Louis County Jail.
KTVI-TV reports Tate was shot in the head.
