North Carolina man faces manslaughter and rape charges after 14-year-old girl found dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TCD) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after a 14-year-old girl was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, on Saturday, Nov. 27, officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 2600 block of Olando Street just before 1:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found a 14-year-old girl, later identified as Vanessa Sarai Santos Garcia, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The statement said Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers "attempted to render lifesaving efforts and treatment to the subject prior to Medic’s arrival." Medic responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene when they arrived.
Upon further investigation, police said homicide detectives interviewed and arrested Junio Alexis Ramos Estrada. According to jail records, he faces multiple charges including involuntary manslaughter, statutory rape, and possession of a stolen firearm. Ramos remains in custody under the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office with a bond set at $235,000.
