SALEM, Ore. (TCD) -- Officials arrested a 20-year-old Portland man in California this week on suspicion of killing a teen girl whose body was found in March.
According to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, on March 2, shortly after midnight, deputies responded to Embassy Way NE near Satter Drive NE to a report of gunshots. Deputies found a woman, later identified as 19-year-old Jissel Segura, suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials launched a homicide investigation, but no arrests were made at the time.
The Sheriff's Office announced that authorities arrested Aaron Anderson in Sacramento, California, on April 26, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Anderson was booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, May 18.
According to the Salem Reporter, in 2019, Anderson previously pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree and fourth-degree assault out of Wasco County in connection with an incident at a Dalles juvenile detention facility. The charges were dismissed in 2021.
