CHESTER HEIGHTS, Pa. (TCD) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a couple was found dead inside their home earlier this month.
According to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police, on Monday, Jan. 2, shortly after 5 p.m., troopers responded to 18 Highland Drive to perform a welfare check. At the scene, troopers reportedly found 72-year-old Richard Zajko and 69-year-old Rita Zajko deceased inside their home. Their deaths were ruled a homicide, police said.
After executing multiple search warrants, interviews, and gathering evidence, police said they believe this was not a "random act of violence."
The victims were landlords who rented out multiple properties in Aston, WPVI-TV reports.
Police asked anyone with information surrounding the deaths of the victims to come forward as the investigation is ongoing. Police did not say whether they have any leads.
