ROCHESTER, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 41-year-old man was recently found guilty of killing his 37-year-old girlfriend in 2021 and dismembering her body.
In a news release, Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley said an investigation was launched after Lisa Shuler’s dismembered body was found at her home on May 25, 2021. According to WROC-TV, officers discovered her torso under a tarp.
Several days later, on May 31, 2021, authorities reportedly found Shuler’s head, hands, and feet at Durand Lake.
Doorley said the victim’s boyfriend, Seth Larson, had fled the area.
Larson was later found at a West Virginia hospital, where he went to inform local police that he was a person of interest in a homicide investigation, according to Doorley. He was reportedly extradited back to Monroe County in New York and charged with murder.
On Monday, Jan. 23, Doorley announced that Larson was found guilty of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. His sentencing is scheduled for March 2.
In a statement, First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles said, "Seth Larson brutally killed his girlfriend Lisa Shuler, someone he was supposed to love."
Duckles continued, "He had no respect for Lisa even after her death, as he dismembered and concealed her body."
Doorley added, "Lisa Shuler was known for being a positive spirit who uplifted her friends and family every day. Seth Larson is a coward who took this kind woman from her loved ones and our entire community. Lisa had many people in her life who loved her when Seth Larson chose to murder her and dismember her body. He showed his true colors as a violent criminal who deserves a life sentence in the New York State Department of Corrections."
Before her death, the victim was reportedly a student at the Isabella Graham Hart School of Nursing.
