Ex-employee arrested after her face mask reportedly fell down during armed robbery

GASTONIA, N.C. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly robbed her former place of employment with a gun.
According to the Gastonia Police Department, in late October, officers responded to an armed robbery call on South York Road and found an employee who said a female wearing a black mask came in and struck her in the head with a handgun, then demanded money.
Police said the suspect’s mask fell off during the alleged robbery, and the worker recognized the suspect as Natasha Otero, a former employee. Otero reportedly fled the scene and left her mask and firearm behind.
Gastonia Police officers obtained a warrant for Otero’s arrest and took her into custody Dec. 27 while she was allegedly shoplifting from a local shoe store.
Gaston County Jail records show Otero is being held on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny, and her bond is set at $51,000.
In their statement, the Gastonia Police Department wrote, "Sometime cases close themselves."
