PHOENIX (TCD) -- The 26-year-old son of murder suspect Lori Vallow was recently arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
According to KUTV-TV, Colby Ryan faces sexual assault charges out of Maricopa County. On Aug. 31, Ryan allegedly went to the victim's home and watched TV with her before he made unwanted sexual contact with the victim, KSAZ-TV reports.
The victim reportedly tried to stop Ryan multiple times, but he did not comply with her requests.
Court documents obtained by KSAZ allege that Ryan apologized to the victim and started to cry. The victim reportedly recorded her conversation with Ryan, and he allegedly admitted that he had raped her. He also reportedly confessed during an interview with police that he sexually assaulted the victim.
Ryan was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail for two counts of sex crimes, records show.
Ryan's mother, Lori Vallow, stands accused of killing her two children and her husband's first wife. Prosecutors filed a motion in May to seek the death penalty for Vallow if she is convicted of any of the killings.
The children, Tylee, 17, and J.J., 7, were reported missing in December 2019 and had not been to school since September 2019. In October 2019, Vallow's husband's first wife Tammy Daybell was found dead in her home. About two weeks after the former wife of Chad Daybell was found dead, he and Vallow got married in Hawaii.
A search warrant was executed on June 9, 2020, at Daybell's home, where authorities found "what appeared to be two sets of unidentified human remains." They were confirmed as J.J.’s and Tylee’s.
J.J. was found with his hands and legs tied with duct tape and a plastic bag over his head, and Tylee had reportedly been burned and dismembered. Chad's first wife, Tammy Daybell, was suffocated to death.
Vallow’s trial is scheduled to begin next month on Oct. 11.
