SANTA ANA, Calif. (TCD) -- A 30-year-old man was recently convicted of fatally shooting his father and his father’s girlfriend and wounding two other people almost five years ago.
According to KTTV-TV, on Oct. 12, 2017, Luke Ferguson fatally shot his father, 59-year-old Doug Ferguson, and his father’s girlfriend, 51-year-old Lisa Consenza, at a home on Ashbury Court. Ferguson reportedly wounded Todd Kuchar and Brandon Dufault as well.
Six weeks before the incident, Ferguson allegedly moved in with his father, and the two reportedly argued about Ferguson getting steady work.
According to KTTV, Ferguson walked downstairs, grabbed a gun, and shot his father in the chest while he was watching TV with his girlfriend.
Kuchar added, "Luke went upstairs while we were eating lunch, [and then] came down to the couch unexpectedly — had a 9mm in his hand, cocked it, and just started shooting everybody, and he had a smile on his face the whole time, like it was something he liked to do."
Ferguson reportedly shot Kuchar three times and shot his other roommate, Dufault, while he was taking a shower, leaving him blind.
Kuchar reportedly ran outside after being shot, and a passerby saw Kuchar wounded and called 911.
During the trial, Senior Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker said Ferguson fled the scene in Dufault’s car and still had his father’s blood on his shoe, according to KTTV.
At the scene, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly found marijuana and guns in the master bedroom, and more guns were in a safe.
Three hours after the shooting, Luke Ferguson was arrested in Inglewood, according to KTTV.
Records show Ferguson was booked into Orange County Jail without bond. On Wednesday, July 27, Ferguson was convicted of two counts of murder and attempted murder. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 24.
