During Fuentes' arraignment Wednesday, Columbus Police Detective Jeffrey Huhn reportedly testified that the girl’s mother contacted Franklin County Children’s Services June 22 to report that her daughter was pregnant. The victim and her mother reportedly traveled to Indianapolis to undergo an abortion.
At the hearing, part of which was shared by WSYX-TV, Huhn said the girl had an initial consultation June 29 and the procedure was the next day. On July 2, the "products of conception" were picked up July 2 for DNA testing.
According to WBNS-TV, Fuentes reportedly told investigators he raped the 10-year-old victim on at least two occasions. It was not immediately clear how they knew each other.
In a statement, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said, "My heart aches for the pain suffered by this young child. I am grateful for the diligent work of the Columbus Police Department in securing a confession and getting a rapist off the street."
Fuentes is reportedly being held in the Franklin County Jail on $2 million bond.
