Ohio man accused of fatally beating 1-year-old arrested

AKRON, Ohio (TCD) -- A 38-year-old man was recently arrested after allegedly fatally beating a 1-year-old child in early 2022.
According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service, the alleged attack happened on Jan. 27 at an address on Edgewood Avenue. The 1-year-old victim reportedly suffered broken ribs, significant bruising, and head trauma. Authorities say the cause of the victim's death is believed to be from beating or smothering.
Latrell Wilson was allegedly the only person with the victim at the time the baby died. On Tuesday, June 14, the U.S. Marshals Service announced Wilson was arrested near the 2400 block of Romig Road at his place of work.
In a statement, U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, "Killing a helpless and innocent child is a horrific crime. Arresting this fugitive and bringing justice to the family was at the top of our priority list."
