Florida man allegedly fatally stabbed daughter as she tried to break up fight with her boyfriend

CLEARWATER, Fla. (TCD) -- A 51-year-old man was arrested after allegedly fatally stabbing his 22-year-old daughter.
According to a news release from the Clearwater Police Department, Laurence Green stabbed his daughter, Sidney Green, when she tried to break up a fight between her father and her boyfriend at Bay Cove Apartments shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 8. Police say Sidney was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.
According to WFTS-TV, Laurence went to the Bay Cove Apartments to pick up some clothes and found his daughter’s boyfriend inside. Laurence reportedly told her daughter to get him out of the house, and she didn’t. Laurence and his daughter’s boyfriend allegedly began to argue inside the home, and it continued outside in the parking lot before the fatal stabbing.
According to the charging documents, Laurence’s daughter’s boyfriend began punching him in the head. The documents say Laurence had a kitchen knife in his hand and Sidney jumped in between him and her boyfriend to break up the fight, and she was stabbed in the stomach as a result.
Laurence told WFTS, "It wasn’t meant for her. Like I said, she jumped in the way and it wasn’t meant for her."
Green was reportedly arrested and booked into Pinellas County Jail on a manslaughter charge. He remains held on $20,000 bail, records show.
