ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old man stands accused of trying to lure a boy into an SUV.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the suspect, Vinh Nguyen, allegedly approached and grabbed the child in the Azalea Park neighborhood on April 11. Nguyen reportedly drove up toward the walking minor, honked, waved, and exited the vehicle to offer him a ride.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the child declined the ride, and Nguyen reportedly put his arm around the juvenile's shoulders. He then allegedly pinched the child's cheeks and told him he was cute. The child reportedly refused a ride again, and Nguyen eventually drove off.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the boy reported the incident to his teacher, and deputies used surveillance video to identify Nguyen.
According to the affidavit obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, in an interview, Nguyen reportedly told authorities he had seen the boy walking to school before. The child allegedly reminded Nguyen of his dead younger brother.
On Tuesday, April 12, Nguyen was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, luring of a child, and battery, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was reportedly booked into the Orange County Jail on $3,250 bail.
The Sheriff's Office is asking the public's assistance in finding more possible victims.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Nguyen was caught on camera trying to lure a 13-year-old just last year.
