Texas mother’s boyfriend arrested after 7-year-old dies from 'suspicious' injuries

DENTON, Texas (TCD) -- A 52-year-old man was arrested last week after his girlfriend’s severely injured 7-year-old child died in the hospital.
According to a press release from the Denton Police Department, on Friday, April 1, shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of East McKinney Street to a report of an injured child. At the scene, authorities reportedly found a juvenile who "had suspicious and extensive injuries." Police say the child was transported to a hospital and later died.
According to police, an investigation into the child’s death was launched and a search warrant was executed at the home where the victim was found. The child’s mother and her boyfriend, Todd Shaw, were reportedly interviewed.
Upon further investigation, police say Shaw was arrested and charged with injury to a child.
