2 arrested after 4-year-old boy in their care was hospitalized

MENTONE, Calif. (TCD) -- Two people were arrested this week after a 4-year-old boy was admitted to a hospital with serious injuries.
According to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, March 21, an investigation was launched after the juvenile victim was admitted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with severe injuries. The child's injuries were consistent with child abuse and reportedly caused by intentional trauma.
Upon further investigation, the Sheriff's Office identified 29-year-old Ismael Flores and 28-year-old Araceli Teran as the suspects. The Sheriff's Office did not specify the suspects' relationship to the child. The child was in the care of Teran and Flores when the alleged abuse took place, KTLA-TV reports.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Flores and Teran were arrested and charged with willful cruelty to a child on Tuesday, March 22. They reportedly remain held at the Central Detention Center on $1 million bail.
