PIKE COUNTY, Ohio (TCD) -- A 48-year-old man was arrested last week after allegedly hitting an officer with his car.
According to a press release from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, March 4, Keith McGuin was wanted for outstanding Pike County warrants for possession of weapons under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department was reportedly assisting the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force along with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office in McGuin’s arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office says McGuin was driving a tan Buick in the 2300 block of Dry Bone Road when he refused law enforcement’s commands. McGuin drove off, turned his vehicle toward authorities, and intentionally hit one of the task force members, the Sheriff’s Office says. Weapons were reportedly discharged in an attempt to stop McGuin.
McGuin allegedly continued to drive off and through a fence, and he fled the scene. The Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Kasey Stevens was a passenger in McGuin’s car. A vehicle pursuit was reportedly initiated throughout Pike County and ended on Beavers Ridge Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office, at the end of the pursuit, McGuin "rammed his vehicle head-on into a Pike County Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle."
McGuin was reportedly arrested without incident. According to the Sheriff’s Office, McGuin was in possession of a firearm when he was taken into custody. Stevens fled the scene on foot but was eventually arrested, the Sheriff’s Office says. McGuin was reportedly charged with attempted murder, felonious assault on a peace officer, and weapons under disability. Stevens was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, possession of meth, and a probation violation, the Sheriff’s Office says.
