Oregon man convicted of beating woman to death and burning her body in backyard burn pile

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (TCD) -- A 42-year-old man was found guilty last week of killing a woman in 2018 and burning her body in a backyard.
The Washington County District Attorney's Office said in a statement Norbeto Nestor Muniz Jr. was convicted Feb. 4 of murder and first-degree abuse of a corpse for the death of Amy Low.
On Nov. 17, 2018, Beaverton Police Department officers reportedly went to a residence near SW Allen Boulevard regarding a report of a "suspicious circumstance." When they arrived, officers found Low's "badly burned" body. She was not positively identified until January 2019, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
Low reportedly lived at the Allen Boulevard home with Muniz and another man. Muniz was named as a suspect and a search warrant at the home reportedly determined Low "was beaten to death and subsequently burned in a backyard burn pile."
Beaverton Police arrested Muniz on May 8, 2019, in Portland. The District Attorney's Office said he had recently been released from prison for first-degree robbery.
His sentencing hearing was scheduled for Feb. 8.
