SANTA ANA, Calif. (TCD) -- A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl he met online and filming the assault.
The Santa Ana Police Department announced on Friday, Jan. 28, that the 13-year-old victim reportedly met Brayan Padilla-Gomez online in October 2021. The two reportedly became friends on social media, and police say he "lured her with the promise to provide drugs."
According to police, Padilla-Gomez picked up the girl and brought her to his home, where he sexually assaulted her. He also reportedly recorded the incident on video and sent it to the female victim’s underage friend. Police say Padilla-Gomez attempted to meet the victim’s friend with the promise of drugs as well as to engage in sex acts.
According to police, the 13-year-old victim spoke with her friend and learned about the video. She reportedly alerted police, and Santa Ana Police Detectives launched an investigation. Padilla-Gomez was arrested in a sting operation and charged with kidnapping and multiple counts of child molestation. He was booked into the Orange County Jail with bail set at $1 million.
