VERNON PARISH, La. (TCD) -- Three people were arrested this week for allegedly sex trafficking a young girl beginning from when she was 8 years old.
According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department, 41-year-old Everett West, 56-year-old Dina Guidry, and 38-year-old Bobby Tisdale were taken into custody Nov. 1. The Sheriff’s Department began investigating the alleged human trafficking in August after receiving a complaint about it happening to someone under the age of 13.
The victim, who was not named, reportedly told Vernon Parish detectives, Department of Child and Family Services workers, and a physician that she had been abused between the ages of 8 and 11. According to the Sheriff’s Department statement, the abuse "had been ongoing and involved several individuals."
The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says the victim told them there was "rampant use of illegal narcotics" in the home. Detectives reportedly believe the girl was "provided to individuals in exchange for monetary benefits or illegal narcotics."
According to the statement, the victim was abused and other children in the house were allegedly subjected to similar treatment. She and the other juveniles were "relocated to a safe environment" after being removed by the Department of Child and Family Services.
Tisdale allegedly "offered the child" to the others "for the purpose of sexual contact," the department said.
Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft told KPLC-TV Guidry "was present in the room on numerous occasions" while the victim was assaulted.
The Sheriff’s Department announced West is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, first-degree rape — victim under the age of 13, and indecent behavior with a juvenile. His bond was set at $400,000.
Guidry faces charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile, human trafficking, improper supervision of a minor by a parent or guardian, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and four counts of first-degree rape — victim under the age of 13. Her bond is $2,950,000.
