OAKFIELD, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old man stands accused of killing his father after his body was found in their shared home on Sunday.
According to WIVB-TV, first responders received a call from a concerned family member requesting a welfare check on 69-year-old Martin Maher on Sunday morning. Deputies arrived at Maher’s Oakfield home on Drake Street and discovered him dead. WIVB reports Maher’s death is being treated as a homicide.

Authorities learned that Maher lived with his son Nicholas Maher, The Batavia Daily News says. Nicholas was located at around 3:35 p.m. in Erie County and taken into custody for second-degree murder. He was arrested and booked into the Genesee County Jail without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing by the state police, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, the Genesee County District Attorney’s office, and the County Coroner’s Office, according to The Batavia Daily News.
