(TCD) -- A 34-year-old man was convicted Thursday of raping his girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter. According to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, Edward Lynn Barber was found guilty of rape of a child. The incident reportedly occurred May 10, 2017, at the residence he shared with his girlfriend and her daughter on Queensgate Avenue in the Oakhaven neighborhood. The District Attorney’s Office said the assault happened when the girl was getting ready for Barber to take her to school. Barber remains in custody, and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 22.
