According to the DPS statement, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Eldridge Police Department requested help from the DPS in the sex abuse investigation.
The Quad-City Times reports Denoyer, 24, resigned from the job Monday. The incident allegedly occurred May 1 when Denoyer was on duty with the Eldridge Police Department. Police Chief Joseph Sisler reportedly went to Denoyer’s residence Monday evening, where Denoyer verbally resigned. Denoyer signed an official letter of resignation the next morning, the Quad-City Times reports.
According to WHO-TV, the criminal complaint says Denoyer "performed a sex act with a 14-year-old girl. The defendant admitted to performing the sex act with the 14-year-old girl."
KWQC-TV reports Denoyer previously worked for the Davenport Police Department. He started his duty in Eldridge in August 2020.
