California woman accused of carjacking truck after killing 3 kids

RESEDA, Calif. (TCD) --

A California woman who allegedly killed three of her children and carjacked a vehicle was arrested more than a hundred miles away from where her children were found dead Saturday.

Los Angeles Police officers responded to a call of a possible death at an apartment complex on the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found three children under the age of 5 inside an apartment. Paramedics pronounced the children dead at the scene.

The children were 3 years old, 2 years old and 6 months old, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The children's grandmother found their bodies and called 911 Saturday morning, the Times reports. They were believed to have been stabbed, but police did not confirm their causes of death.

Los Angeles Police named the children's mother, 30-year-old Liliana Carrillo, as a person of interest. As they sought her whereabouts on Saturday, police received a report Carrillo allegedly carjacked a pickup truck in Bakersfield, approximately 100 miles north of Reseda.

Hours later, the LAPD announced Carrillo's arrest in Tulare County, and said she is the suspect in the case. Charges against her were not announced.

Carrillo reportedly got into an altercation on Interstate 5 before allegedly carjacking the truck and abandoning her own vehicle.

The children's father had sought custody of the kids on March 1, the Times reports. He requested a temporary emergency visitation order from family court on March 4, and petitioned for a mental health evaluation of Carrillo, according to court documents. Another hearing in the case was scheduled for April 14, the Times reports.

Carrillo sought a temporary domestic violence restraining order against the children's father on March 12 in L.A. County Superior Court, according to the Times. He told The Times Carrillo was supposed to turn the kids over on Sunday.
