'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli wants prison release to research coronavirus 04/07/2020 12:38 pm PDT Comments Getty via WPTV: NEW YORK (WPTV) -- Convicted former drug company CEO Martin Shkreli wants out of prison so he can help research a treatment for the coronavirus. Shkreli's attorney said Tuesday that he will be filing court papers asking federal authorities to release Shkreli for three months so he can do laboratory work “under strict supervision.” In a research proposal published online, Shkreli called the pharmaceutical industry's response to the pandemic “inadequate.” Shkreli was best known before his arrest for drug price-gouging and his snarky “Pharma Bro” persona. Shkreli is serving time at Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix, N.J. According to its handbook, there are no bars, towers, or locks on rooms. Inmates must demonstrate a high degree of responsibility, and “the expectations are that each inmate will comply.” MORE: Shkreli seeks prison release to conduct research for coronavirus cure - The Hill In silico screening for potential COVID-19 beta-coronavirusnon-nucleoside RdRp inhibitors (.PDF) 'Pharma Bro' wants out of prison to research coronavirus - WPTV #Appeal #Coronavirus #Fraud #Incarcerated #Legal #NewYork Related Stories 'Joe Exotic' quarantined after inmates test positive for COVID-19 Doc charged for allegedly intentionally coughing on hospital workers FDA issues consumer alert for fraudulent COVID-19 cures Martin Shkreli arrives at low-security federal prison Fake coronavirus test kits seized at Los Angeles Int'l Airport 'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli sentenced to prison for securities fraud Man arrested for bomb threats after hospital denied coronavirus test Waiting for your permission to load facebook comments.
