California man calls sheriff's office to report killing his grandfather with baseball bat

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (KTXL) -- Deputies arrested a 34-year-old California man Thursday for homicide after he called the sheriff's office to report he hit his grandfather with a baseball bat.
Around 5 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a call from a man now identified as Frank Swanson, who claimed he had struck his grandfather with a baseball bat. Swanson said his grandfather was already dead.
Deputies arrived at the caller's location on Bolivar Avenue, near San Martin Street, where they found him in the roadway.
Deputies found a 78-year-old man with trauma to his body. They attempted life-saving measures before he was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Deputies arrested Swanson on a homicide charge, and he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
