ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WGN) -- A woman charged with murdering her parents in Arlington Heights was denied bail Monday.
Deborah Martin, 43, was charged with first-degree murder, after her mother Anne Martin, 71, and father David Martin, 72, were found dead in their home Saturday.
Prosecutors laid out a case for pre-meditated murder in court on Monday. They claimed Martin had plotted for at least a month to kill her elderly parents.
Arlington Heights police believe she acted on that plan late Friday night/early Saturday morning when they got the 911 call.
“The 911 audio captures the mother of the defendant gasping for air and moaning,” Assistant State's Attorney Lorna Amado-Chevlin said.
Arlington Heights police said they arrived at the home on Derbyshire Lane within minutes of the call and forced their way in and found Anne Martin dying on the kitchen floor and David dead in the hallway. Both victims had multiple stab wounds.
Prosecutors said David Martin had been stabbed in the chest three times. He was stabbed in other parts of his body as well and the knife was dragged across his neck.
Anne Martin had been stabbed in the chest seven times: twice in the neck and once in the back.
Deborah Martin was also found in the home with wet hair as if she had just showered, prosecutors said.
Police also found blood spattered throughout the home and bloody clothes on Deborah Martin's bed.
Police said they also found a receipt for a knife that was bought May 10, the same knife they say was used to commit the murders.
