CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. -- (WSOC) -- An 8-year-old girl was killed early Sunday morning when she was struck by a bullet in a Gaffney apartment, the Cherokee County Coroner said.
The incident occurred at 1:05 a.m. at an apartment in the 800 block of West Buford Street.
The coroner identified the girl as Kamryn Montara Lamya Bradley, of Shelby, N.C.
According to officials, the child was sitting on a sofa when a bullet came through the window and struck her in the head.
Bradley was rushed to Mary Black Health Systems in Gaffney, where she died at 2:35 a.m., the coroner said.
The coroner said the girl was not a target of the multiple rounds shot into the apartment from the parking lot.
“This is another tragic, senseless loss of life at the hands of gang-related activity, this time an 8-year-old child. It has to stop,” the coroner said.
