NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- (WZTV) -- A Nashville mother has been charged with child neglect after one of her young children jumped off a bed, through a second-floor window and down to the ground.
According to the Metro Nashville Police arrest affidavit, 23-year-old Anissa Troutman left her 6, 2, and 3-year-old children alone in their second-floor apartment while she went shopping at Kroger. During this time, a man at a neighboring apartment told police he was looking out of the window when he saw the three-year-old fall from the second story bedroom window of Troutman's apartment and land on the side of his neck on the ground below.
911 was called and the man says he ran to the child's aid. Officers responded to the Joseph Avenue apartment complex and upon arrival, found there was no adult home. The children told police they were playing and jumping on their mother's bed when the child fell out of the window. The boy was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was found to have only minor injuries.
Officers say inside the apartment, it was "dirty and messy with things strewn everywhere."
