NEW YORK CITY -- (WPIX) -- Overnight subway riders soon will see more officers riding the rails as part of an effort to put New Yorkers at ease and hopefully deter dangerous activity, such as the slashings and stabbings that have been dominating the news for several months, police confirmed to PIX11 News.
An NYPD officer will be on every train from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m., police said. It will be much like what officers used to do decades ago, when crime was sky-high underground.
