5 injured, suspect killed after stabbing spree at U.C. Merced

MERCED, Calif. -- (KRON) -- A suspect was shot and killed after stabbing five students on the campus of U.C. Merced.

The campus is on lockdown and all classes are cancelled.

Five students were stabbed in the incident. Two victims had to be flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital and the other three students were treated on campus. All victims were conscious.

Police received reports of a stabbing around 8:02 a.m. in the Classroom and Office Building on campus, referred to by students as COB.

The situation was under control by 9:17 a.m.
